This ongoing project uses Swedish wool- currently an underutilized waste material – as a resource for sustainable circular textile design, investigates how it's intrinsic properties can be activated through high twist yarns, weaving bindings and textile structures to generate self-forming woven textile-forms.

High levels of twist introduce mechanical imbalance in yarn, storing torsional energy that drives the fiber to curl, spiral and crinkle in order to release internal stress. When activated through specific weaving bindings and textile structures, this stored energy generates wrinkles, pleats, curls and three-dimensional form through self-organized behavior.
